Tougher Euro 5 emission rules means that super-cars like the R8 have to go cleaner.So Audi have made changes to 2011MY R8 Coupe and Spyder 's 4.2-liter V8 FSI.
The new engine now complies with the EU5 emission laws. This is done by Audi's new recuperation system that losses less energy during braking and coasting.
But cleaner engines don't always mean less power as the new V8 adds 10 more hp and 317.2 lb-ft of torque 4,500 rpm through 6,000 rpm. You have a choice of either a standard six-speed manual transmission or an optional six-speed S tronic automated manual.0- 62mph comes in 4.8 seconds with a top speed of 299 km/h.
Pricing in the UK comes at £95,545 for the six-speed manual and £100,855 for the six-speed R tronic automated manual. Expect deliveries to begin in January 2011.
